What “Activation” Means

A starter is considered activated when it shows clear signs of fermentation after feeding, such as:

  • Visible bubbles throughout the starter
  • Noticeable activity (often increased aeration and texture change)
  • Progress over time with consistent feeding

Temperature and timing vary, but when instructions are followed, you should see meaningful progress within 72 hours in most home environments.

  • Your order information

    Provide us with the following:

    • Full name used to order
    • Your order number
  • Proof of your activation attempt

    Please attach clear photos of:

    • Your starter jar (top view + side view)
    • The starter consistency (after stirring is totally fine)
    • Your flour and water setup (a quick photo is enough)
  • Your activation details (copy/paste)

    • Where you kept it (warm spot vs. cold spot + approximate temperature if known)
    • Flour used (e.g., all-purpose, bread, whole wheat, rye)
    • Water used (tap / filtered / bottled)
    • Feeding schedule followed (times and amounts if possible)
